Since nobody on the current roster is wearing the No. 87 jersey, honoring the newly-minted Pittsburgh Steeler and former three-year letter winner. Pat not only picked up the torch from Mike Gesicki, but took the tight end position to a new level with his deadly combination of receiving and blocking abilities. Despite playing in only four games last season, he still was named to the first team of the all-Big Ten offense.

The pair of tight ends who have picked up the torch from Pat in Brenton Strange and Theo Johnson will be part of the “days until” countdown before the end of the week.
