There is no current #78 on the Nittany Lions roster, so let’s take a look back at a Penn State legend.
Mike Munchak was a star offensive lineman for Penn State from 1978-1981. After missing the 1980 season with an injury, Munchak bounced back to be named a second-team All-American. As a senior, Munchak helped clear the way for Curt Warner’s 1,000 yard season as Penn State went 10-2, finishing the season with a decisive victory against USC in the Fiesta Bowl.
After the season, Munchak was the 8th overall pick in the first round of the NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers.
