'Devastated' White out 6-8 weeks with broken wrist

Colin White will be lost to the Ottawa Senators for six to eight weeks after suffering a broken left wrist in Monday’s 6-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

It’s a crushing blow for White, who stood a decent chance of making the Senators opening day roster due as Derick Brassard recovers from shoulder surgery.

White, who suffered the injury while blocking a shot in the third period Monday, had surgery Tuesday morning.

“He is devastated,” said Senators general manager Pierre Dorion. “He felt with some of our injuries up front that there was a spot there, or a few spots, and now obviously he won’t start the year with us.
