FAU coach Willie Taggart said Monday that 18 players and nine staff members tested positive for COVID-19 last week, and 38 members of the football program would’ve missed Saturday’s matchup against Southern Miss, which led to the game’s postponement.
The game was postponed last Thursday evening, and was FAU’s sixth delayed/canceled game of the season because of reasons related to the novel coronavirus — including its first four on the schedule.
“I’m a realist," Taggart said. "I understand we’re in a pandemic and there are some things out of your control. The last time it happened, I thought the guys responded well.
