In Justin Wilcox’s first season as a head coach, the Bears turned heads with a 3-0 start that included wins against North Carolina on the road and Mississippi at home. Wilcox, the Junction City native who played defensive back at Oregon from 1995-2000, put together a staff loaded with experience, including former head coaches Beau Baldwin and Tim DeRuyter, who coordinate Cal’s offense and defense, respectively. Also on the staff are offensive line coach Steve Greatwood, who coached at Oregon for 30 years, and defensive line coach Jerry Azzinaro, who led UO’s defensive line during Chip Kelly’s four-year tenure.
