Multiple reports Tuesday afternoon indicated that Cal general manager Ron Rivera is working on a deal to make Oregon defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi the new coach of the Bears.
Lupoi played defensive tackle for the Bears from 2000-2005, joining the staff as defensive line coach and an ace recruiter in 2008.
A day after Will Stein was named coach of the Kentucky Wildcats, it means Dan Lanning is replacing both coordinators after the Ducks' playoff run, Lupoi's defense ranks 5th in the country in yards per play, No. 8 in scoring defense, No. 4 in opponent passer rating.
