For decades, few OU or OSU quarterbacks sniffed the NFL, but that is changing

The numbers were ridiculed. Scoffed at. Dismissed. Laughed off. Scores not worthy of legitimate football. Eight-man high school? Video games? Seven overtimes? Sure. But not legitimate football.

59-56. 48-47. 45-44.

Just a renegade conference playing a reckless style. Defense is optional. Defense is discouraged, since it just got in the way of another wackadoodle game.

But somebody — somebodies — saw something different when OU and OSU, Texas Tech and West Virginia, lit up Big 12 scoreboards in recent years. And Sunday in the NFL, three Bedlam quarterbacks will start.

The Browns’ Baker Mayfield against the Rams, the Cardinals’ Kyler Murray against the Panthers and the Steelers’ Mason Rudolph against the 49ers.
