Thunder franchise records SHOULD include Seattle

Russell Westbrook is now the leading scorer in Thunder franchise history, and many Oklahoma City fans – and probably Seattle fans – are quite addled that such a list includes both the Thunder years and the Seattle Supersonic years.

Westbrook scored 44 points Thursday night against New Orleans and now has 18,247 career points. But Westbrook didn’t break Kevin Durant’s record. He broke Gary Payton’s.

Payton had 18,207 points for the Sonics. Durant had 17,566 points for Sonics (one season) and Thunder (eight seasons).

And that rankles some fans. “I am ready for the ‘records’ with the Supersonics to not be associated with the Thunder – that is so dumb,” wrote a friend of mine.
