Shai Gilegous-Alexander makes history in Thunder win at Toronto

TORONTO — Shai Gilgeous-Alexander just wanted a sip of water before facing the media ahead of his homecoming game on Sunday. But he was running early. A Thunder public relations person asked if he could wait another couple minutes.

“Nope,” Gilgeous-Alexander said.

The second-year point guard had to clarify that he was kidding. A pregame media scrum was unusual in a Thunder locker room, on the road or at home. But Gilgeous-Alexander obliged before the Thunder’s 98-97 win against the defending NBA champion Raptors at Scotiabank Arena.

About a dozen reporters huddled around the Ontario native, and one asked if he had a lot of friends and family in the stands.
