When former Ohio State football player Josh Simmons was drafted with the last pick in the first round by the Kansas City Chiefs, it was somewhat surprising. Not because Simmons isn't talented, but because he suffered a serious injury with the Buckeyes. Simmons missed half of the season with a severe knee injury.
Most NFL teams didn't believe that Simmons would be ready to go right away. They assumed that it would be a full year before he would be recovered enough to play. Simmons surprised everyone by being ready to go for Week 1. In fact, he has been the Chiefs' starting left tackle.
