Raiders’ Mo Hurst ‘amped up’ for role in Paul Guenther’s defense

ALAMEDA — For the first time in as long as he can remember, Maurice Hurst didn’t field a single question about his heart health during an interview session.

The discussion around Hurst has shifted away from health concerns and toward football now that the rookie has a conflict-free NFL offseason under his belt. The former Michigan defensive tackle was sent home early from the NFL combine due to heart issues and fell to the Raiders in the fifth round of April’s draft. His first-round talent has Oakland believing the team got a bonafide steal in Hurst, who figures to play a prominent role on the defensive line.
