Raiders’ David Amerson has more than Washington on his mind

ALAMEDA — David Amerson goes back to where it all started Sunday night, fully cognizant that the team that threw him overboard in 2015 had unwittingly rescued a foundering career.

“There’s no animosity between me and Washington,” the Raiders cornerback said Tuesday. “It’s not as much of a personal game as people might think.”

At the moment, the five-year veteran has something else on his mind. It’s what coach Jack Del Rio calls “Tell the Truth Tuesday,” an unsparing look at the previous game game without fluff or frills.

Amerson’s truth was that in a 45-20 win over the New York Jets, both touchdowns came on his watch — a 34-yard pass from Josh McCown to Jermaine Kearse in the second quarter and an 11-yard score to Kearse with the Raiders leading 42-13 in the fourth quarter.
