Raiders awarded four compensatory NFL Draft picks

The Raiders have been awarded four compensatory picks in this year’s NFL Draft, the league announced on Friday. All of them will come in the sixth round, bringing the Raiders selection total to 11.

Compensatory picks are given out by the league based on a formula of free agency gains versus losses from the previous offseason, based largest on contract value and playing time during the 2017 season. Teams that lose more than they get in terms of free-agent performance are given selections from rounds 3-7.

The Raiders were relatively quiet during last year’s free-agent signing period, with Jared Cook and Cordarrelle Patterson considered marquee acquisitions despite relatively affordable deals.
