Raiders awarded four compensatory draft picks

ALAMEDA — Unless Reggie McKenzie does some wheeling and dealing, the Raiders general manager will be a busy man come the sixth round of the 2018 NFL draft.

The NFL awarded four compensatory draft picks to the Raiders Friday, giving them 11 selections in all and six in the sixth round alone.

The league annually awards compensatory picks based on a formula that factors that include playing time and salary of free agents lost weighed against those that were signed.

A year ago, the Raiders made little effort to sign any of their own free agents and 10 found new employers — running back Latavius Murray (Minnesota), defensive tackle Stacy McGee (Washington), cornerback DJ Hayden (Detroit), tackle Menelik Watson (Denver), wide receiver Andre Holmes (Buffalo), safety Brynden Trawick (Tennessee), linebacker Daren Bates (Tennessee), quarterback Matt McGloin (Philadelphia), safety Nate Allen (Miami) and tight end Mychal Rivera (Jacksonville).
