CEDAR FALLS, Ia. — In an in-state affair that saw little separation throughout, Northern Iowa held on down the stretch Tuesday for a 57-53 win over Iowa State at the McLeod Center. The win marked UNI’s first in the series since Dec. 8, 2002, snapping a 15-game losing streak.

The Panthers led by as many as nine in the fourth quarter, but Iowa State clawed back and had a chance to tie or potentially win with a trey on the final possession. Trailing 55-53, Cyclones standout Bridget Carleton drove past Heidi Hillyard and had a decent look at the basket, but Mikaela Morgan slid over to help just enough and force a miss.
