Panthers Fall to Hawkeyes, 4-2

Box Score CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa softball team was defeated by their instate rivals, the Iowa Hawkeyes, on Tuesday evening.

Despite a seventh inning glimpse of hope, UNI (20-15, 8-4 MVC) was taken down by Iowa (10-23, 3-6 Big 10) 4-2.

The Hawkeyes caught an early lead regardless of the first two batters getting out from the Panther defense. A single run from Allie Wood would begin the momentum for Iowa. With two players on base, Mallory Kilian would walk up to the plate against UNI starting pitcher Bailey Lange, and hit a three-run homer over left field, giving Iowa a 4-0 lead in the top of the first.
