CEDAR FALLS, Ia. — It had been 28 years since Northern Iowa and North Carolina last wrestled one another. On Monday night, both the Panthers and the Tar Heels showed that maybe they should compete against each other more often.
Northern Iowa beat North Carolina, 17-16, in front of 1,703 here at the West Gym on Monday night. The Panthers are now 2-1 overall after defeating the Tar Heels thanks to the third tiebreaker criteria: total match points, which ended 55-42 in favor of UNI.
