Kurt Warner becomes first Iowan elected to Pro Football Hall of Fame

HOUSTON — A new ending was added to Kurt Warner’s storybook football career on Saturday.

The former Northern Iowa quarterback was one of five modern-day candidates voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame by the 48-member selection committee. Warner, who was born in Cedar Falls and grew up in Burlington, is the first Iowa native to be elected to the hall.

This year’s Hall of Fame class was announced Saturday night at the NFL Honors celebration. Warner, who played for the NFL's Rams, Giants and Cardinals, will be inducted on Aug. 5 in Canton, Ohio, home of the Hall of Fame.
