Heims Named U.S. Paralympic Female Field Athlete of the Year

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa. – After a decorated amateur career on the national stage, Northern Iowa freshman Jessica Heims was named the Female High School Field Athlete of the Year, as announced by the U.S. Paralympics this week.

The freshman Panther shared the honor with Jaleen Roberts. Heims also earned All-American honors from the U.S. Paralympics, which marked the fourth appearance for the Swisher, Iowa native.

"It's an honor to be named the high school athlete of the year," Heims said. "I have been working through the All-American list the last four years, so this was the best way to end my high school career and transition into college.
