CEDAR FALLS, Ia. — The Grinnell gunslinger is all grown up, having transformed from small-town coach’s son to cemented Division I quarterback looking to shine on one of state’s brightest stages.
Eli Dunne has been yearning for this. Entering Saturday’s 7 p.m. showdown at Iowa State, it’s his show now — no hoping, no waiting, no part-time playing.
After some brief moments in the starting spotlight last year, the Northern Iowa quarterback has full grasp of the offensive reins and will look to rekindle the UNI football spark after a disappointing 2016.
He’ll have an entire city behind him.
