After an undefeated conference season last year and a berth in the NCAA Tournament, the Drake women’s basketball team was picked to finish first in the Missouri Valley Conference poll released Tuesday morning.
The Bulldogs received 31 of the 40 first-place votes. Missouri State was picked second with seven first-place votes, and Northern Iowa was picked third with two first-place votes.
The league’s coaches, sports information directors and media voted.
Additionally, Drake landed two on the preseason MVC first team in junior guard Sammie Bachrodt and sophomore guard Becca Hittner. UNI guard Ellie Howell was selected as well.
