Giants Name Eli Manning as Starting QB Over Rookie Daniel Jones

Giants head coach Pat Shurmur named Eli Manning the team's starting quarterback for 2019 on Friday.

"Eli's our starter, and we’re getting Daniel ready to play. [Jones] has done a good job in the preseason," Shurmur told reporters. "He's getting better and he’s going to do continue to do that, so that at whatever time we need him to play, he'll be ready."

Manning is slated to be New York's Week 1 starter for the 15th-straight year in 2019. The two-time Super Bowl MVP threw for 4,299 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2019, throwing the fewest interceptions (11) since 2008.
