San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle has been ruled for Sunday's contest against the New York Giants due to a knee injury, head coach Kyle Shanahan announced Friday.
After suffering a sprained MCL and bone bruise in his team's Week 1 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, Kittle missed Week 2 against the New York Jets. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported last Saturday that there was belief the 26-year-old tight end would be ready to play in Week 3.
However, it will be at least one more week before the Niners get their star tight end back on the field.
