Yankees name replacement for IL-bound Giancarlo Stanton

Giancarlo Stanton just can’t escape the injured list.

The Yankees ended up placing their slugger on the 10-day IL with a right knee sprain after Wednesday’s 8-7 win over the Blue Jays.

Manager Aaron Boone seemed optimistic before the afternoon game, when an MRI exam came back clean. Stanton, who has already missed a ton of time with torn biceps, strained shoulder and calf strain, was hurt during Tuesday’s win after sliding headfirst into third base.

“[The] tests were good,” Boone said. “There’s no swelling in there, but he’s a bit sore and stuff.
