It’s no secret there have been a series of highs and lows for the New York Rangers’ youngest skater, Kaapo Kakko. The 18-year old, currently sporting a 0.50 PPG and plus/minus rating of -10, hasn’t had the start he had hoped for. There have been moments of sheer brilliance, like his two goal OT winning performance against the Penguins last week, but it’s taken some time to play at that level. However, he’s not the only rookie to ever have such a tumultuous start.
Early season woes
Kakko voiced his frustrations early on in the season, perhaps too early, which can be simply summed up as this – Kakko felt the transition to the NHL would be easier than it has been.
