Depending on the opponent, the score or the day of the week, the Mets’ chase for a postseason berth has careened between hopeful and desperate — a roller coaster that has had the organization living on its last nerve. Entering Sunday night’s action against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Mets were three and a half games out for the second wild card with just 14 to go.
If it feels like October has arrived at Citi Field, it’s because the Mets are living in must win territory, which has been concurrently harrowing and exhilarating.
