Syndergaard makes first start since April 30

Mets RHP Noah Syndergaard started and pitched a scoreless inning against the Nationals on Saturday night in what was his first Major League appearance since April 30.

Syndergaard needed just five pitches to complete the inning. Washington's Trea Turner flied out, Jayson Worth singled, and Daniel Murphy grounded into a double play.

RHP Matt Harvey took over for Syndergaard to begin the second inning.

"This rehab process is both physical and mental," Mets GM Sandy Alderson said on Friday. "Based on Noah's feedback, he feels good physically.
