Mets aiming to have Syndergaard pitch one more time this season

Mets manager Terry Collins said on Sunday that the team would like RHP Noah Syndergaard to pitch one more time before the season is over.

Syndergaard started and pitched a scoreless inning against the Nationals on Saturday night in what was his first Major League appearance since April 30.

Syndergaard needed just five pitches to complete the inning. Washington's Trea Turner flied out, Jayson Worth singled, and Daniel Murphy grounded into a double play. Collins said Syndergaard felt great following the outing.

The Mets have not determined how many innings Syndergaard would pitch if he makes another appearance, but Collins said he would need to wait five days before pitching again.
