Final Score: Mets 6, Padres 2—Stroman does it all

The Mets salvaged the series finale in San Diego, knocking off the Padres by a score of 6-2 and managing a split. The Mets’ makeshift lineup once again found a way to push across enough runs to win. Dominic Smith and James McCann both hit homers, Billy McKinney and Pete Alonso both had big two-out RBI singles, and Marcus Stroman helped his own cause by doubling home a run in the seventh inning.

That was more than enough for Stroman on the mound, even though he wasn’t at his absolute best. He walked a season-high four batters and dealt with some traffic, but he was able to toss seven innings while only allowing one unearned run and striking out seven.
