PHILADELPHIA — Brandon Nimmo had a difficult time reconciling his absence from the field on Wednesday.
There were his respectable numbers in a limited sample size (2-for-7) against Jake Arrieta, but also the pop off the bench Nimmo might have brought in the ninth inning with the Mets rallying.
Nimmo, bothered by a stiff neck, watched the Mets’ 3-2 loss to the Phillies from the bench. Nimmo’s absence might have been most felt as Keon Broxton was left in the game to face Phillies right-hander Hector Neris with the bases loaded. Broxton struck out to end the game.
