New York Islanders prospects report to training camp tomorrow. That’s right. Hockey is back baby! The veterans, however, won’t come to camp until the 12th of September.
This year’s training camp is going to be interesting for the sheer number of battles going on for NHL spots. At the time of writing the New York Islanders have 16 forwards, seven defensemen, and two goalies under NHL contracts.
That’s 25 players to fit a 23-man active roster. Not everyone is going to make the final cut.
And that doesn’t count Joshua Ho-Sang, Kieffer Bellows, Oliver Wahlstrom, Otto Koivula, or Noah Dobson.
