Phil Simms sees some of himself in Eli Manning.
He thought he still had something left in 1994, coming off a playoff win. The Giants didn’t, so they cut him. Manning didn’t lead the Giants to the postseason last year — or anywhere close. But Simms sees the parallels after the team drafted Daniel Jones in April as a replacement for the 38-year old, and he can see the Giants turning to Jones if they have another rough season.
“I really think it’s set up for Eli to have a good year,” Simms said on MSG 150.
