Tom Coughlin will always be there for Eli Manning.
The former Giants coach texted Manning to see how the quarterback was feeling after being benched this week for rookie Daniel Jones, according to NFL Network.
What exactly was said is unclear, though the gesture is hardly a surprise.
It was Coughlin, now president of the Jaguars, who 15 years ago inserted a rookie Manning for Kurt Warner in what would become a franchise-altering move.
The Giants were 5-4 then, and spiraling, as they are now — 0-2, and already in grave danger of missing the postseason for the fourth consecutive season.
