Saquon Barkley injury update calms Giants’ worries

Saquon Barkley was knocked around in the 34-27 loss to the Jets and headed into the X-ray room following the game.

“He’s feeling much better,’’ coach Pat Shurmur said on Monday. “He’s fine.’’

Barkley’s hard-to-fathom performance — 13 rushing attempts, 1 yard gained — was aided and abetted by using three backup offensive linemen, including two tackles who had never before played in a regular-season NFL game. Barkley was contacted by Jets defenders behind the line of scrimmage on 11 of his 13 runs and his minus-13 yards before contact is the fifth-fewest since ESPN began tracking this statistic in 2007.
