The Green Bay Packers made a surprising roster move on Wednesday by releasing defensive tackle Mike Daniels, a 2017 Pro Bowler. Daniels was shut down in November last year with a foot injury after playing more than 70-percent of the Packers’ defensive snaps just twice. It was a break from the norm for him after consistent production from 2012 to 2017, never posting fewer than four sacks and nine quarterback hits in a season.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo first reported Daniels’ release on the eve of training camp, and added that the Packers initially tried to find a trade partner but were unsuccessful.
