Saints QB Drew Brees not a favorite to lead NFL in passing yards

Drew Brees had a great year for the New Orleans Saints in 2018, even if he didn’t put up the eye-popping volume statistics fans have become accustomed to. He threw for 3,992 passing yards, the lowest mark he’s ever set in a Saints uniform and his smallest total since 2005, his last season with the then-San Diego Chargers.

Part of it was by design. The Saints enjoyed another strong year on the ground, with running back Alvin Kamara scoring 14 touchdown runs. As a group, the running backs (and do-it-all reserve Taysom Hill) converted 424 carries into 1,766 rushing yards and 22 touchdown runs.
