NEW YORK -- Goals aside, Cory Schneider was pleased with how his first outing of the preseason went.

The Devils goalie saved 14 of the 17 shots he faced in 30:16 of ice time during the Devils' 4-3 overtime loss to the Rangers on Wednesday.

Schneider allowed two goals on dangerous looks by the Rangers, where Kevin Hayes and Chris Kreider both broke through on clear paths to the net. He allowed his third goal on a deflection in the crease by David Desharnais on Schneider's final play before the Devils made the planned switch to Mackenzie Blackwood.
