Devils’ fun really begins after Ray Shero does it again

Three years ago, Taylor Hall from the Oilers. Two nights ago, Jack Hughes at first overall. One day ago, P.K. Subban from the Predators.

You can call New Jersey general manager Ray Shero, Big Play Ray.

Subban, acquired in exchange for spare parts and a pair of second-rounders in a cap-clearing salary dump by Nashville, instantaneously becomes the largest personality in Devils history — which is something else than being the best player for a franchise that’s featured Hall of Famers Martin Brodeur, Scott Stevens, Scott Niedermayer and Hall-of-Famer-in-waiting Patrik Elias.

And Hall, one year removed from becoming the club’s first Hart Trophy winner.
