Back in December of 2009, Bill Belichick bluntly shared his opinion on box scores.
“Stats are for losers. The final score is for winners,” Belichick said after a victory in Carolina. "That’s really what it’s about.”
His new quarterback holds a similar belief.
Though Cam Newton played quite well last weekend’s loss to the Seahawks — 397 passing yards, two rushing touchdowns — he said the vacant win column is all that really matters from Seattle.
“That’s the most important statistic in sports," Newton said. "Who cares about QBR? Who cares about total tackles?
