8 Patriots training camp takeaways: Kyle Dugger intercepts Mac Jones as offense struggles

FOXBOROUGH — As the Patriots completed their final day ramping up before the pads come on, there weren’t enough completions on the field.

Mac Jones wasn’t sharp and Bailey Zappe was erratic with the backups as New England returned to practice on Saturday morning. Here are eight takeaways from the backfields at Gillette Stadium:

1. Offense out of sync

As a whole, the offense was as crisp as a month-old apple.

More than a half-dozen members of the secondary broke up passes in competitive drills, quarterbacks holding the ball too long led to would-have-been sacks, and in the final period of practice, Mac Jones threw a pick-six to Kyle Dugger.
