This wasn’t what Allie Havers was used to, the bench in a college volleyball match not actually being where the players sit during the match.
She came to the volleyball team after four years on the Nebraska women’s basketball team, where players, you know, sit on the bench.
“Yeah, so I didn’t know all that was a thing in volleyball, all the cheering stuff,” Havers said.
In college volleyball the players not in the match stand in a group near the end of the row of chairs. It’s a better view for watching what the opponent is doing in the match, and keeps the players warmed up for when it’s their turn to enter the match.
