The Montreal Canadiens have traded fourth-line centre Nate Thompson to the Philadelphia Flyers, getting a 2021 fifth-round pick in return.
Thompson was acquired ahead of last season’s trade deadline as Claude Julien tried to get a fourth line he could trust. Thompson proved to be a good solution for the head coach, playing 88 games for Montreal contributing five goals and 16 assists. He now goes to the Philadelphia Flyers where they are looking to make a playoff run.
After Marco Scandella and Ilya Kovalchuk, Thompson becomes the third true rental player dealt by Montreal ahead of the deadline.
