With rotation revitalized, Mizzou barely resembles team from last Mississippi State matchup

COLUMBIA, Mo. — It won’t require much for the Missouri basketball team to surpass its Jan. 14 performance at Mississippi State in Saturday’s rematch — as long as the Tigers find their way to Mizzou Arena.

“I think the biggest key,” Cuonzo Martin said Friday, “is us showing up.”

That comment shouldn’t need translation if you watched last month’s 72-45 mismatch in Starkville, Miss. Mississippi State outplayed the Tigers in every phase of the game, scored the contest’s first 10 points and built a 20-point lead in the first half. The Tigers turned the ball over 19 times, shot just 5 of 23 from 3-point range and got beat on the boards by a dozen rebounds.
