Washington Redskins to officially change name

It would appear that we’ve seen the Minnesota Vikings take on the Washington Redskins for the last time.

On Monday, after years of resistance, Washington owner Dan Snyder has announced that the team he owns will be retiring their name and logo. There is no word yet on what the new name will be or when the change will officially happen.

The franchise began its history as the Boston Braves in 1932 and adopted their other nickname the next year. The team moved from Boston to Washington before the 1937 season and had kept the name ever since.
