CHICAGO — Stan Van Gundy said he knows Juwan Howard "only in passing."
But Van Gundy — the former Detroit Pistons coach and president of basketball operations who now works at ESPN — has heard plenty of good things about Howard, the former Michigan star and Fab Five member whose name has come up in U-M's search for a new basketball coach.
“Erik Spoelstra, all the people with the Heat, all the people who played there and are working there now, they speak really highly of him," Van Gundy told the Free Press over the phone on Friday.
