South Carolina fires offensive play-caller before Outback Bowl against Michigan

The Michigan Wolverines will be going up against a brand new play-caller for the South Carolina Gamecocks come New Year’s Day.

It was announced Wednesday morning that South Carolina co-offensive coordinator/QB coach Kurt Roper has been fired after the Gamecocks finished as the 98th ranked scoring offense and the 108th ranked total offense in the FBS in 2017. Roper called offensive plays for South Carolina this season.

Co-offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach Bryan McClendon will now be the play-caller against the Wolverines in the Outback Bowl on Jan. 1.

What does this mean for Michigan? Well, it means a brand new play caller has little time to prepare an offensive game plan against the Wolverines’ juggernaut defense.
