NEW YORK - Moritz Wagner went from the precipice of the top basketball league in the world to a decidedly less glamorous summer.
After deciding to withdraw his name from the 2017 NBA Draft in late May, soon before the deadline to do so, the Michigan forward returned to Europe to play with Team Germany at the U-20 FIBA European Championship.
The event offered high level basketball for Wagner during the offseason, but without any glitz and glamour -- or money -- that Wagner's other option promised.
That was just fine with him.
"You just go in the locker room, get dressed and play," Wagner said of the tournament.
