DETROIT -- Michigan's hockey team is off to a good start against its in-state rival at Little Caesars Arena.
The Wolverines, thanks to a sliding, highlight-reel save from defenseman Joseph Cecconi with 2 minutes, 21 seconds remaining, held on for a 3-2 victory over Michigan State on Saturday in the "Duel in the D" at LCA - Michigan's second straight victory over the Spartans at the new home of the Detroit Red Wings and Pistons.
It won the first meeting 6-4 in the Great Lakes Invitational third-place game on Jan. 2 and takes the season series against the Spartans, 3-1-1.
