The Michigan Wolverines have lost another member of the 2017 recruiting class with multiple media reports saying on Tuesday that defensive end Luiji Vilain has entered the transfer portal.

Vilain was a former four-star recruit in the 2017 cycle and the 57th-ranked player nationally. Despite this, he was never quite able to able to find a consistent role after knee injuries impacted the first two seasons of his career.

Vilain played in 12 games over the last two seasons and notched 11 tackles with one sack and one forced fumble. With the emergence of Kwity Paye and Aidan Hutchinson and the ascension of Taylor Upshaw this past season, Vilain’s spot in the pecking order just never really materialized into much of a consistent role.
