Michigan basketball's Hunter Dickinson enters NBA draft, but could still return to college

The Big Ten Freshman of the Year is going to test the NBA waters.

Michigan basketball center Hunter Dickinson announced via social media on Wednesday that he is declaring for the 2021 NBA draft. But he is signing with an NCAA-certified agent to maintain his college eligibility.

The 7-foot-1 left-handed center burst onto the college scene, helping Michigan to a Big Ten regular season title, a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament and a spot in the Elite Eight. And the Wolverines' success was tied to how well the freshman played.

Dickinson, a graduate of DeMatha Catholic in Maryland, renowned for the many NBA players it has produced, was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week seven times last season.
